Gaj Dastak Project

Gaj Dastak is a research-driven initiative to develop the world’s first AI-powered, non-invasive acoustic deterrent system for mitigating human–elephant conflict (HEC). Combining cutting-edge bioacoustics with machine-learning algorithms, the project seeks to create adaptive “no-go” zones that guide elephants away from farms and settlements—protecting communities and elephant populations alike.

What Is Human–Elephant Conflict (HEC)?

“Human–elephant conflict” describes negative interactions where expanding human activities overlap elephant habitats, leading to crop raids, property damage, and risk of injury or death on both sides.
